Material 1.0626, also known as C82D or AISI 1078, is an unalloyed, hardenable spring steel containing approximately 0.80 percent carbon. It offers high strength, excellent elasticity, and very good wear resistance. C82D is commonly used for technical springs, clutch components, knives, saw blades, and highly stressed mechanical tools. After hardening and tempering, this steel achieves strong resilience and high fatigue resistance while maintaining good cold formability in the annealed condition.
