1.1248 - C75S / 1075 / G10750

Description

Alloy 1.1248, designated C75S, AISI 1075 or UNS G10750, is an unalloyed, hardenable high-carbon steel. It belongs to the group of spring steels and is suitable for applications requiring high strength and a strong elastic return due to its elevated carbon content. The material can be hardened and tempered to achieve high hardness and a favourable combination of strength and toughness. Cold forming is possible in the annealed condition but becomes very limited as hardness increases. The alloy is fully magnetic and provides no inherent corrosion resistance, as it is not a stainless grade. Protective measures are necessary where corrosion exposure is expected.

 

Typical applications: spring strips, leaf springs, knife and tool components, precision mechanical parts and other items requiring high hardness, high elasticity and good spring performance.
