Thanks to state-of-the-art rolling technology and flexible machinery, we create flat wire solutions with a wide range of cross-sections, surfaces and edge geometries – as traverse or oscillating spools or as a pack winding (spooled rings). We always take into account your individual specifications in terms of tensile strength, formability or further processing.

Edge processing – tailored to your application

The geometry of the edges has a decisive influence on the function, safety and further processing of the flat wire – particularly in case of delicate cross-sections and sensitive applications. Studer-Biennaform offers you four defined edge finishes – manufactured with the highest precision and specific tolerances:

  • Natural rolled edges [NK]
    Tolerance: ±0.050 mm
    Standard finish with low machining depth. The surface is homogeneous and the edge sharp, yet it can be used functionally for many technical applications.
  • Rolled edges [TK]

    Tolerance: ±0.020 mm
    Controlled rolled edge with defined radius. Reduces stresses and edge loads – ideal for applications with mechanical stress or where edges must be avoided.

  • Rounded edges [AK]
    Tolerance: ±0.008 mm
    Mechanically rounded edge shape. Recommended for the highest requirements in terms of process reliability and material protection – for example, in medical technology or in case of sensitive guide systems.
  • Special edges [SK]
    Tolerance: ±0.008 mm
    Individually processed edges according to customer drawings or requirements. For special applications where the geometry, radius or surface quality have to be precisely defined.

All edge finishes are implemented using state-of-the-art technology and with the tightest manufacturing tolerances.
